List of awards and nominations received by Aamir Khan

This is a listing of the awards and nominations received by the Bollywood film actor, director and producer Aamir Khan.

Non-acceptance of popular awards

Having won a lot of awards and accolades, Aamir Khan refuses to attend Indian award functions except those with all due respect for him. He states that popular film awards such as Filmfare, IIFA, Zee Cine Awards etc. are not credible and genuine. He trusts and believes only National Film Awards which he feels are the Indian Oscars. When asked, he revealed "The fact is that I have no objections to film awards per se. I just feel that if I am not valued by an organization I don't value it as well and I won't attend the ceremony either. I felt blessed to be honored from Deenanath Mangeshkar award and Gollapudi Srinivas award because I have utmost dignity towards them. I don’t see any other Indian award ceremony that I should give the equal importance to."

The actor known to be totally different from the famous league of Bollywood bigwigs gave yet another example of his distinctiveness by turning down the offer to get his wax statue immortalized at the Madame Tussauds wax museum in London. Aamir claims to maintain his uniqueness over others by not following his professional colleagues. Aamir declined this offer by saying that it was offered when he was busily involved in a movie project during which he could never diverge his mind on any other issues. He added that he wants people to like him through movies and nothing else.

In the recent years he is also taking major part in country's social services. Very few celebrities take the initiative of coming forward to change the society and he has done a remarkable job with his small-screen debut "Satyameva Jayate".

AK has been awarded several remarkable national and international honors for his extraordinary and qualitative contribution to the Indian film industry, aka Bollywood.
