Excerpt
Without the supplement mentioned on the t.p. Voltaire himself produced a third volume (Leipzig et Dresde, 1754) of the Abregé to supplement the two volumes that appeared in 1753 without his consent. This 1755 edition, without the supplement, reproduces Voltaire's third volume printed in Colmar in 1754 (BN, Voltaire 3062). The supplement of 64 p. present in the BN copy is similarly absent in the InU copy. For a discussion of the history of this third volume, see G. Bengesco's Voltaire, v. 1, p. 329 ff.
